Welcome to our web site!

On this home page we'll introduce the Hungarian Multicultural Center and highlight important areas on our site.

The Hungarian Multicultural Center, Inc. INTERNATIONAL ARTIST-In-RESIDENCY PROGRAM was founded in 1995. Supportive, nurturing, inspirational... the HMC offers a unique opportunity for artists chosen from around the world: the opportunity to reside and work as a resident artist in an atmosphere designed to stimulate personal vision and encourage new and exciting artistic expressions.

The HMC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation supported by private donations. The artists are selected on the basis of their application, their demonstrated commitment to art, their discipline, their total resume and their references. Selections are made by members of the Board of Directors of the HMC. The Artist-in-Residence Program is for artists involved in the creation of visual arts and literature. It is neither a school nor an artist`s colony. It does, however, offer an opportunity for professional artists to explore their full creative potential. During their residency, each artist is provided with a studio space and exhibitions.

Residencies and exhibitions are yet another way to bring the contemporary art and artists featured in the series directly to local communities and audiences. Providing an opportunity to interact with new work and new ideas, residencies can initiate important conversations and create forums for further public dialogue.

Facilitating connections between artists and different communities can deepen the conversations started in the broadcast series. Involving the artists directly in outreach is an important aspect of the Hungarian Multicultural Center series.

While HMC does not provide funding for residencies, we are helping to facilitate the creation of programs. In addition to residencies, HMC also works with communities and cultural organizations to create exhibitions that feature the work of artists.

The HMC will continue the cultural programs as film screening, concerts, exhibitions, film festivals and artists residencies.

HMC has collaborated on a variety of residency models including several programs in Budapest, Csopak, and Balatonfured. For more information you can contact Beata Szechy, HMCDirector
